Cody's Diary  - by Sir Cody
I'm Cody, gelding - dashing and dapper pony

May 19th.   We have found a new home for Prince.  He gets to be a show pony!!   I'm a show pony but I am already trained.    We will miss him but he is now going to have a home where he can be a star.

January 19, 2013 - So my Mom figures she has no clue how old we all are since she had us about 11 years.  Well, if I was about 4 when she found me then I'm about 15 and Old Man Shane is 21!   Mom went into shock and we had to have her breath into a bag - Here is Aislin and Prince

December 22, 2012  Almost Xmas!
It is raining in Livermore, CA BUT here is a picture of just snoozing on an afternoon.

October 05 -  I have a new friend!  And she rides English AND posts AND has balance AND ride me without the bit.  Of course, I love my Mom best, even though she has no balance and I work balancing her BUT Mom rides without a bit so I still love Mom best.  (wonder if Mom will give me apples for posting that!)

October 01
Yes, I have a beautiful new saddle blanket - embroidered.  Mom said I can now be in schooling shows and beginning jumping.  I am an advanced jumper but Mom's nerves can only take the lower jumps.  And having to sedate Mom for a show is not worth being on the advanced jumps.   Last time we had to have her breath into a bag she got so worried she hyperventilated and kept yelling, "Cody, be careful"

September 4th -
We are FINALLY getting to what looks like an arena made  just for me.  I may call it the Sir Cody  Equestrian Arena, or the Sir Cody Arena of Superb Jumping, or the Sir Cody Superb Arena.   But for now I just want it finished.

Yes, Hero is finally able to control his brain squirrels.  Of course he had to start in January 2012 with Bringing Up Baby.  Mom figured start him over in Nursery School since he obviously skipped a grade somewhere with that stupid bucking he did and Mom could not figure out what grade the dope missed.   Now Mom will make him stay in high school through November,  and then IF he can graduate her exams he can start college with Dressage 101 For Dummies! Mom will be mad I printed that but it is nice to see him not acting like he wants to be in a rodeo as a bucking horse.  BUT I glare at him anyway just to make sure he stays with the program!  After all, I love my Mom and I am that special pony!

06/20/12 - Mom came to  my stall and had not only an apple BUT carrots.  I thought, how nice of my Mom.   Then Mom said, "Now Cody, you know I love you and you are my favorite pony."  OH NO!  That means she is rescuing!  I figured a pony but somehow Mom went to buy bunny hay and brought home a something but I am not sure.  Not a horse, may be a dog, or a large hairy mouse.   It barked!  dog!  NO two!  big and little barking mice.

Max              Maxine           The kids

I was going to kick them into Michigan, BUT I love my Mom and as long as I don't have to share a stall with them I welcomed them to the ranch - well, I was getting apples so that helped.

05/07/12 - MY NEW  Covered ARENA!  Okay, well at least it is started.  I think it should be ready by July?  Not sure but at least it is started and will be 100x200 with lots of jumps.

04/09/12 - For Easter The munchkins had an Easter Apple Race and Dusty pretending he was a Bunny and hopped.

03/10/12 - I am just the perfect pony.   Here I am with Taylor and we were in a show.    Mom, did not do as well as Taylor - we can say Mom slid off me and landed on her butt, she wasn't even in the show.  Actually she wasn't even on.  She was getting on me bareback and using a two step and I wasn't even moving.   She did put her leg over but then somehow stepped off the step!  I told all the horses that Mom fell off at a horse show.  They asked what class she was in - I said stair mounting - we all laughed.  We love Mom and will help next time by slouching lower!

03/04/12  Hero having a good day.  Cody spent the day with Kiley at Rio Vista.'

02/12/12 - Hero did well, I told him to keep repeating to himself, "If I buck, then Cody bites me!"  He walked and trotted and didn't buck.  I am a really good trainer!  If I wasn't such a dashing jumping pony I may be a horse trainer!

01/20/12

Boy is Mom losing it - First she buys Shane a new rain jacket because he was using mine.  THEN she goes to put mine on me AFTER Shane wore it!  NOT!  It was dirty and smelled like Shane not me!   I ran away so much  she finally agreed to buy me a new one.  I told her I want a blue one and in Gortex!

01/13/12 - Here is Hero getting trained - all from scratch since Mom thinks he missed something with all his previous training - SO he is starting over with lunge and ground work!   I am going to go with Kiley on weekends, to Rancho Cerro, to JUMP!  Merry Xmas to me!

01/06/12 - Well, is everyone wondering what I got for my pony xmas?  Well, I'm wondering too since Mom has not brought it out yet from the house!  Hero got a beautiful purple halter from Rebecca.   If Mom doesn't bring it this weekend I may just crow-hop or take Mom over a jump.  That is always fun since she starts yelling WHOA WHOA - I'll reply WHOA Where is my present !  Nah, I love Mom too much and she is not the best rider so I'll stay at a walk and trot.

12/24 - Well, I'm in my stall waiting for Santa - Mom said she had sent an e-mail to leave my present in the garage so she can give it to me in the morning.  That way I don't have to stay awake all night to get my present right away.   This is us when Mom yelled stand still for the xmas card photo!  NOT!  but we love Mom anway.

12/17 - UH, Merry Xmas to me?  Aunt Margaretta Mueller forgot my size so she sent a green winter jacket to Prinz - she must have tried to find mine - right?  I think we are getting close to xmas!!   so I guess Mom will buy mine next?

12/03 - Merry Xmas to me!  I am putting together my Xmas List and quickly sending it to Santa - carrots, apples, saddle, bridle, and maybe just a few other things.   Somehow Dusty got my blanket since it came in too small and I told Mom she didn't have to return it but could give it to Dusty.   Mom said she had no idea how she could have ordered it so small.  For a minute I thought maybe she didn't order it for me? NAH!  all gifts must be for me since I am such a special pony and Mom loves me best.

10/30/2011 - For some reason Mom thinks she is going to rehab Hero to be able to ride him so out comes bringing up a baby horse and she is going to start as if he knows nothing.  I told her he'd do great until it gets to don't buck.   Here is me and Cajun who is finally adjusted again so Mom gave up on adopting him out just to get him back.  Now we all have a training schedule so Mom is finally back on track.  We need a schedule in order to keep Mom in training.

10/03/2011 - Mom is moving down Hero and Timber to our barn for the winter.  Not good, but we will all work with it.  The trick was finding where to put the Terrible Two - that is Quincy and his sidekick Dusty.   They are like the monster twins - Mom had Prince in thinking the short boys would bond.  WRONG!  Now she has me next to Shane and the Monsters on the other side.  So I am surrounded by dumb and nasty - and here I am the perfect pony.  This will be a long winter but for Mom I will not call Shane dumb and the mini's the Nasty Twins.  That is because I am just the best of the best.

09/17/2011  - September!  That means we are heading to snow time.  I told Mom I need a saddle with a warmer.   Mom said she would buy me a heavy saddle blanket.  I told Mom I need ear warmers.  Mom said she would buy me ear muffs and hoof gloves.   We finally settled on a nice winter scarf.   I hate snow.  I want it to be back in June again and not almost October.

09/05  Mom said it was labor day so I told her to clean the stalls.  Then she said she doesn't work on labor day so I said to call it I don't labor day.   Mom gets really confused with ideas.   Dusty can call this picture Stay Clean Day since he rolled in dirt a few minutes later.  I love my Mom and she did clean stalls even though she isn't suppose to work on labor day?  odd.

08/28  Here are the muffins in the round pen exercising - Oh wait!  They aren't even moving.  They think they can burn calories staring at the grass.  Must be the MGSD  - Muffin Grass Staring Diet.  WOW, maybe Mom can burn calories just staring at oreo's rather then eating them.  I think I will suggest it. Or, maybe not since I love my Mom and that may hurt her feelings.

07/20  Being a journalist for National Geographic I took a picture of our Hawk, Skylar who is smart enough not to swoop down on me.  I also played soccer!

skylar2.jpg (22861 bytes)

Dad is okay but he apparently had stone colic.  We yelled for Mom that Dad was down and in the driveway, but she called 911 instead of giving him banamine and walking him for 15 minutes.   Apparently, since I was once a gastro intestinal surgeon he had gall stones.  A lot.  Actually we could have built a new stone paddock area!  But, he seems to be getting better and has lots of nice nurses.   I get sick and all I get is Mom hovering over me!  I want to go to Kaiser next time and be on the 3rd floor, too!.

06/12/11 - And guess who we still have on the ranch.  HERO!  I asked Mom why he was in the barn and she said because Timber had an abscess and Timber had to be with Hero!  NOT FAIR!  maybe I should start limping!  So, here is Hero who still does not have all his lights on in his head and bucks.

hero.jpg (66499 bytes)   But this is how he first looked so I guess I won't be upset - I felt almost sorry for him when he first came here - but only almost.

hero_1.jpg (66070 bytes)

05/24/11 - Here we go again.  First Mom is in France and does she get me a french saddle = NOT!  Now, back in Germany home of Passier Saddles - Should I think my Mom is buying me another saddle?   I know she will bring me something this time.  She forgot the other times but since Mom loves me I know she will bring me a present.  Right Mom?  Sending my Mom my Cody brain patterns - think saddle, think saddle, think saddle!

04/18/11 - Mom had to call the vet and let Jack go to heaven.    We all are very sad and told Mom not to worry that Jack told everyone in heaven, that I told him he was a big unicorn but lost his horn during transportation to our ranch.  They felt sorry for him and gave him wings so instead of a unicorn he could be a cousin to Pegasus.  I then told Mom now he can fly over and keep and eye on the ranch and the wind was just his wings flapping as he goes over.  I love my Mom.

04/03/11 - Rain is over!!!   Mom actually rode yesterday.  Well, Mom did what she calls riding and we call Horse Balances Mom.  But we all had a very sunny, happy day.  Today we all went into the mini pasture to play and graze.

cajun_graze.jpg (69339 bytes) click to make larger

03/12/11 - I had mentioned to Cajun that I once had sedation and had lots of attention.  NOW, the minute my Aunt Dr. Barbie Wyborg takes out a syringe he pretends he's ready to fall asleep.    AND, then today, he hardly got any sedation but he tells my friend Rebecca, MY friend, that he's too tired to hold his own head up and he got all the hugs today.  I grabbed my camera to prove how pitiful he can look!

cajun1.jpg (59796 bytes) click to make larger     Tonight Mom came running to hug me because I started yelling, My back!  I think I'm stiff!  Quick, Mom, my head is falling!   I can't hold my head up,  Mom you better hug me.  Mom held my head and asked if I was asleep, or would I like a cookie.  I told her I suddenly felt a lot better and would take the cookie.

02/25/11 - Well, we all had to walk slow into the pasture for Paja but when I got inside I forgot and started to run.  I heard Dad yelling my  name "DamUCody" - Paja started to have fun and run and then Dad was yelling "Don't run" -  I did stop since they seemed to be confused that we like to run.  Paja did stop to graze but then he limped.  That sent my Dad into a fit yelling at me and of course Mom taking my side, since I am quite wonderful at running and jumping.  I started yelling at Dad not to make Paja nervous by yelling, since he had an ulcer!  Then, since Paja is related I figured his name must be "DamUPaja" and yelled at him to walk.  Mom explained only I have that name, since I am special, so I am not going to let anyone else use it but me and since I love Mom she can be "DamUMom"

02/13/11  - We nearly lost Paja!  But he spent a week at Pioneer Equine Hospital in Oakdale and Uncle Dave and Uncle John saved him.   Uncle John  found an ulcer and Uncle Dave found Paja has Navicular.  Cajun still needs shock wave therapy for that torn tendon that Aunt Barbie is fixing - but we all love Mom.  Not to worry, I told my Mom how much we love her and if she retires at 80 she will have all our medical bills paid off.  Mom started crying out of happiness, and that I'm such a smart pony to think of that.   We always help with inventive suggestions to help her budget and she always bursts into tears of happiness at the thought.

01/30 - We have lost a part of our ranch family and this month Mom and Dad were sad most of the time - I know since my mane is still wet from Mom hanging on me crying!  But I stood still and let her.  I did lean over and eat hay since I can be multitasking and hay comes before a lot of things!

Our Max - 12 years old and we will miss him

12/25  Well, I looked under the Xmas Hay and found - HAY!  I am sure Mom will give me my gifts later - MOM?  Here is Cajun in an electrode or Simon Digital Xray hat.  We were trying to find his brain - It showed he is missing it!  Actually we found why is is lame, not lame, lame, stupid, lame, dumb, lame.  I think it also used up all my xmas present money!  The Cajun has a tendon injury, I guess we can say in his armpit area.  And we all, and that is 11 of us, wish you all a Happy New Year.  I guess I better include Mom and Dad so make the 13 of us.  After All, I love my Mom and she does have my Xmas present somewhere.  Mom?

cajun.jpg (79486 bytes)

12/10 I was yelling to my Mom.  Mom, Mom the little fat thing is trying to get into the grain!  I grabbed my camera for evidence.

quincy_grain.jpg (31086 bytes)
Quincy trying to break into the grain!

And here is Prince and his Princess Aislin

10/11 -Lila is helping Dusty learn when to walk and whoa

dusty_lila.jpg (116366 bytes)

10/03 -  Prinz has a new friend - Noah.   AND they liked Quincy!

click this pic to make larger

Lila, Noah and Quincy.   Lila brushed him so he was shiny.   I am always brushed and shiny but then I am Cody and everyone loves me!

09/17 - Cajun has to wear a blue boot!  He looks so dumb with it on.  He was limping so Mom had spent my new saddle money on blocks & Xray's and all his bones are fine!  As soon as our shoer comes he can put a shoe on and then he won't have one shoe and one boot.   We were all scared he really had something more then a bruise but nope - just Cajun with a stone bruise or something but nothing bone related.

09/12 - Here is Prinz in his first stage for pulling a cart.  Right now Aunt Melinda is teaching him to drag a mat.  Prinz thinks he is just really smart now.  And Aunt Melinda is taking Cajun under her teaching.  I already know everything since I am that special Pony.  That is also our trainer in the picture Tracy - get a long little doggie Yeehaaa!

drag2_2.jpg (103495 bytes)

08/15 - We are all sleeping in Paja's stall.   Paja had colic surgery but will come home tomorrow for more recuperation and we will be very careful and quiet.  Cajun sleeps with his head on Shane and he did baby mouth - I think he is insecure again and snores!  Mom made us all go back to our own stalls so she can sterilize Paja's stall.

08/07 - I was nice enough to help my Mom make my paddock smaller although I had no idea why.  But once Mom starts Cody, you know I love you, then I know it is going to be something I don't like.  Well, I was right since in comes Dad with the horse trailer and out walks CAJUN?  CAJUN?  Why the heck is he back!   He has been gone twice!  First , he came back depressed!  Now? he comes back again.   Mom has actually bought him back about three times now!  SO, this time he stays but I kind of like the boy - I can bite him and run with him.  Okay, I'll share the paddock but I'm telling Mom to share I want a new saddle.

07/11  -  And here are Quincy and Dusty after Edward Cullen turned them to Vampires.  They are like stone.  Mom has to stop watching those movies.  She said, "Cody I am a vampire and may have to bite you, if you don't listen" - I said, "Mom, you are a senior citizen not a vampire.  And,  if you bite me I'm going to kick you into New York."  Mom kissed my nose instead and I told her I love her.  I really wanted to say, "HORSE 1 - VAMPIRE 0"

07/05

The mini's have a doggy door and run back and forth from paddock into pasture and back and forth all day.

06/14 -The good old boys club.  Hero, Jack, Timber Cruiser.  They live up on the hill - they are retired.

06/01 I can't believe Shane got a therapy massage.  I'm the jumping pony!  So unfair - I could have used a nice therapy muscle relaxation and therapy touch to put my neck muscles back in place!!

05/17th - I have my camera back and I am once again a photographer.  Mom has again started what she calls riding and I call balancing her.  I guess we do that balanced riding.  BUT, I love my Mom so I make sure her butt doesn't slide off the saddle.  Not an easy task, but I am a very talented pony.   Here is Dusty and Quincy running and bucking.  Quincy is multi tasking - he can eat weeds on the run!

dq2.jpg (62426 bytes)

03/29 Although I didn't take the picture, if it wasn't for me yelling "Devin, Take the picture!"  He would have missed it.   I am just such a wonderful pony!

cody_march_pasture.jpg (49070 bytes)     www.dt231.smugmug.com

03/19 - Yes, I have a new camera!  I decided I need to be more of a journalist so Mom said since that is a positive thing she will help me.  I told her I first required for my new job a new dressage saddle.  Mom told me that is not what a photo journalist needs so she bought me a camera.  Maybe later I will trade it for a new saddle!  Our pasture has grown in and it is like running through a FOOD BUFFET!!!   Here I am with Cajun and here is Prinz Mueller.

cody_march.jpg (49187 bytes)      prinz_march.jpg (81278 bytes)      prinz_march1.jpg (82126 bytes)

02/27 - I am happy.  My trainer rode me since I wanted to jump.  Mom is going to be in her first horse show.  Of course it is only walk, trot and she will wear the number face not showing so she won't be judged.  We have to start Mom on things slowly!  Someone else will ride me to jump or canter.   Right now I only have mom's promise she will go in the ring with others but she may have a panic attack so our next plan is she just rides to the middle of the ring and waits for everyone to finish.  But, it is a start!   Now here are some pictures at the top of the hill where it was about to storm and of Jack looking at Mom cleaning his stall and he wants back in that stall!

jack1.jpg (39654 bytes)         jack3.jpg (46820 bytes)

02/08 - well another rainy month on the ranch - I sure hope this ends soon.  the only  nice day we had the buzzards were drying out their wings all over the pasture.   Mom thought they were sick BUT they were just sunning.

01/15/10 - Well, I'm about ready and happy to be ridden and Mom says she has to go get a dog.  I looked at Quincy and said, "A dog?  there is nothing on the ranch to do?  Mom is going to get a dog?"  Luckily it wasn't for here because I would have to really put my hoof down on that - Mom hardly has time now.  I actually get stuck lunge lining the mini's - well I just bite them on the ass and make them run around the round pen.  Anyway, this is my cousin Noi with the new dog.  He wasn't any good at herding goats.  I like goats, they are small - I can be a Goat Herding Pony AND jump over them too!  Goat Jumps!

01/10/10  Well, Mom mentioned no new saddle BUT I am going to be good and no complain.  Here is Prince trying to make friends with the Monster Quincy.   And who I call the three amigo's since Mom will make them be friends whether they want to or not.  She claims they need to be a herd since they are all small.

dst_qu.jpg (60437 bytes)       dust_qu_pz.jpg (50422 bytes)

01/04 - It is a New Year and I am sure Mom will buy me a new saddle blanket, saddle, all new things since it is New.  She explained it doesn't mean you get new things but then it would be just like the old year.  Mom gets confused since I am sure the New Year means new things.

12/28 - here is Blonde boy Prince Mueller.

12/15 - Here I am at a Xmas show being ridden by a friend of mine.

12/14/09  This is not what I call Sunny California!  It snowed - it is cold, now it is raining!  Mom had to put Jack in the barn he was so cold.  2,000 pounds of shivering old Percheron!  He lost so much weight on the hill in two nights of snow.  Mom is always complaining she needs to lose weight so I told her to stand out all night with us.  She failed to see my sense of humor.  Here is Timber trudging along - I was in my nice warm stall yelling - HEY SNOW HORSE!

12/12/09  I had to work less when I was sick!  Now Mom thinks I have to catch up with discipline.  She said she saw drunken sailors on shore leave back in NY that side stepped better then me.  She said I acted like I was staggering!  So I did my front legs but she wants all four!  So I just kind of swaggered over but I would not call it stagger!  Now I am back in discipline with K. Mckee!   Mom is SO lucky I love her!

11/15/09  I am better!  No more puffy pigeon and I didn't have a lot of those abscess things that Mom nearly fainted over!   AND Mom bought me a new dressage bridle!  AND mom bought me a new dressage pad AND I love my Mom and will have all new pictures.  I think I gained weight standing in a stall for all these weeks.  I was stuck in quarantine almost 3 months!!!   Mom said we will work out together starting tomorrow.

11/01/2009 - I had to baby-sit Prince since he has no one to graze with.  Mom came home from her trip with some new idea that Prince needs to graze with another horse and he can't graze with Quincy.  I'd rather have been in the pasture with horses then a Shetland Pony!  But since I'm a Welsh/Hafflinger Pony I did what Mom wanted me to do.

10/13/2009 - It is a storm! I am sick and have an abscess - Mom, as we know, does not excel at swabbing things out.   I had to keep telling her to sit down or she would faint.   I kept saying, "Mom, just put the syringe in and flush it out, I'll stay real still"  I was like a stone statue and she is saying Cody don't move!  I didn't want to say she was an odd shade like she was about to throw up and that it was her hand shaking and I wasn't moving!   I finally had to get her doing it right since she was moving the damn thing like she was looking for a vein for a needle.   FLUSH IT OUT!!!   Finally Mom figured it out but after a lot of instructions from me but that is why we all love Mom.
